Herbs and flowers

Acacia, Robinia pseudoacacia

Family of leguminoseae

This plant was imported from America at the beginning of 17th century and it arrived in Italy at the end of 18th century, but today it is so spread that is a common plant of the local flora. It blossoms in scented bunches in the period June-July (it is very common to find it along the railway escarpments and along rivers) and its flowers are normally visited by bees, which produce a delicate and scented honey, This type of honey has relaxing properties, the same properties of the acacia flowers.

Use
Blossoms can be used to prepare scented sweet fritters as well as salted fritters.
